review 1: As a long time Joni fan, I eagerly anticipated reading this book and devoured every word. Each story about her albums and songs made me pause my reading and listen to the music. A poet, artist and unique musician. A true original. I could practically hear her voice in the words I read. The photos were a nice touch but I wish there was more of her artwork. I saw her art exhibit in Saskatoon in 2000 and spent the whole day in the gallery looking at her art for hours with her music playing in the background. So I wish that she had talked more about her visual art perspective. I rushed out and bought the DVD of the ballet production "The Fiddle and the Drum" music, dance and art - such a Joni project. She is arguably, the greatest living poet, songwriter, artist, musicia... moren that I have had the honour of following all these years. Incidentally, my favourite album is "Mingus". I am still astounded to this day that she was vilified for following her muse. Read this book!
review 2: A fantastic book! Whether you are a fan or just know who Joni Mitchell is, by the end of this book, you will be a fan.Have you ever watched those celebrity biography shows where they interview them and show us tidbits of their lives? That's what this is, and episode of that in book format. It plays out so well in your mind because of all the personal photos that are included. You never lose sight of where you are in her life. Even though I was already a fan, I feel I know so much more about Joni Mitchell now and am a bigger fan now.The ending felt cut-off, but I suppose the end of an interview tape would be.This is now one of my favorite celebrity biographies to date. less

Not as good as I hoped it would be. Not sure if this is true to Joni Mitchell's character.
