review 1: This book was tedious and strange. In a way, the parts about screenwriting and the writer's terminology were somewhat interesting. I don't think the relationships between the husband/wife, husband/son, husband/daughter were deep enough. I selected it as a book club read and as soon as I finished it, I asked the book club to take it off the list because I didn't see what there was to discuss after finishing it. It was like going through grief therapy with somebody that I didn't feel any emotion for. Very strange. I expected the book to wrap up some loose ends, provide some answers, etc. It was just a "here's how Hollywood works, and here's how Hollywood works when you have a death in the family" and guess what? it works the same.

... moreVisionary Fiction"I loved this book. It's bold, honest and deeply moving." -- Sheila B. (Amazon Review)"It's written like the quest for the Holy Grail. It's a really emotional journey that you can't put down. (I read it in one sitting.) It's full of motivational advice, some of which is different than what you'd think. Like he quotes W.C. Fields ("Try, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it") and he explains when to soldier on and when to quit." – Milky Way less
